Health and Safety Policy

Ultra shall, as far as is reasonably practicable, ensure the health, safety and welfare of those in our employ and those not in our employ who are effected by our undertaking. We will:

  • Endeavour to prevent death, injury or illness to any person affected by our business activities.
  • We will comply with and where possible exceed the standards set out in legislation and other requirements of our business.
  • We will assess our business activities and where a risk exists, seek to eliminate it or reduce it to an acceptable level.
  • Seek to comply with local and international standards of Health and Safety Management.
  • Seek to continuously improve our standards of Health and Safety Management
  • Consult with employees and stakeholders on matters affecting health, safety and welfare.
  • Ensure adequate resources are available to achieve and maintain the standards set out in this policy.
  • Recognise the importance of information, instruction, training and supervision
  • Provide adequate occupational health arrangements.
  • Record and investigate all accidents and incidents seeking to eliminate future occurrence.

Quality Policy

Ultra Electronics Nuclear Control Systems is committed to “Making a difference” for our customers, partners, shareholders, employees and the communities within which we operate.  In particular we seek to inspire our employees to work in partnership with our customers to exceed expectations.

It is our objective to be a profitable business, recognised as a successful service provider and supplier of quality solutions for control and monitoring equipment to the Nuclear Market.  Therefore the continuing development of our people, processes and business systems are critical to our success.  To these ends we will strive to put quality at the heart of everything we do:- 

  • to respond to Customer needs, providing products and services that are defect free and consistent with our business objectives, thereby delivering customer satisfaction
  • to comply with statutory and regulatory requirements as well as BS EN ISO 9001 and other controlling standards and approvals
  • to develop Quality Management Systems to comply with standards expected by the Nuclear industry and our Customers
  • to continually review the status, adequacy and effectiveness of the Management systems taking action where appropriate to enhance performance
  • to develop and drive improvement activity through pro-active risk evaluation and mitigation processes to support business and customer needs
  • to directly involve employees in continuous improvement activities, developing the skills and operational expertise of the workforce to address current and future business needs and objectives
  • to establish performance indicators across the business to ascertain the performance of our processes and provide continual review and development

Environmental Policy

We are committed to protecting the environment and conserving global resources through sound environmental management of our products and services. We will:

  • Comply with and, where appropriate, exceed the requirements of all relevant legislation and any other requirements the business subscribes to, including the safe storage and use of sealed and open radioactive sources
  • Seek to eliminate or significantly reduce environmental pollution.
  • Consider the environmental impact of our products and services in order to ensure they are energy efficient, where possible reusable, recyclable or disposed of safely.
  • Work with customers and suppliers to encourage them to consider the impact of their services and products on the environment.
  • Seek to reduce the consumption of resources and promote re-use and recycling.
  • Promote environmental awareness through suitable training, instruction and supervision.
  • Apply appropriate methods to ensure this environmental policy is implemented effectively.
  • Seek to achieve continuous improvement in our environmental performance.
  • Consult with and employ internal and external resources, interested parties and awarding bodies in the implementation of our environmental management system.

Socio Economic Policy

Ultra is committed to “Making a difference” for its customers, partners, shareholders, employees and the communities within which we operate. In particular we believe that developing and maintaining strong relationships with local communities and suppliers is fundamental to conducting profitable, ethical and environmentally sustainable business.

This socio economic policy is reviewed annually and subject to audit for compliance and to ensure that opportunities for continuous improvement are realised. Ultra operates an environmental management system to BS 14001, and our environment policy complements and supports this socio economic policy.

Ultra seeks to balance its growth whilst supporting and minimising adverse impact to the regions in which we operate. Therefore this policy covers both those areas where we are based and those where we provide services.

Socio economic policy is led by the Managing Director and is the responsibility of senior managers in each area that we operate in. In each area Ultra will use its best endeavours to support the communities where it operates by contributing in a number of ways including:

  • Local sponsorship and charitable donations
  • Encourage and enable staff participation in voluntary support for community groups
  • Provide educational support to schools, colleges and universities by supporting STEM ambassadors, apprenticeship, graduate and outreach programmes
  • Contributing to local business groups
  • Utilising and encouraging local training suppliers to support employee development
  • Growing local supply chains and promoting this policy to our current and potential suppliers
  • Prioritising local supply of goods and services from areas where we are doing business
  • Minimising local environmental impact through travel planning and local recruitment
  • Purchasing goods and services which are sensitive to the environment, and ensuring that any waste products are disposed of in an environmentally sensitive manner.

In addition Ultra will endeavour only purchase from, or provide services to those organisations that do not act contrary to our aims, objectives and policies. Ultra will also endeavour to ensure that any third party acting on its behalf will also observe this socio economic policy.

Privacy Policy

The Ultra Web site ("Ultra Site") is operated on behalf of the Ultra Electronics Holdings plc, ("Ultra"), a company with its registered office at Bridport Road, Greenford, Middlesex, UB6 8UA, in England. Company Registered Number 2830397. VAT Registered Number 645 0743 42. All information collected from the Ultra Site is collected by or on behalf of Ultra.

Personal information

In general, you can visit the Ultra Site without telling Ultra who you are or revealing any personal information about yourself. Some parts of the Ultra Site i.e. Investor Relations, invite you to register and provide information about yourself. Information that you supply, will relate to the customer relationship that Ultra has with you or your organisation. Your personal information will be retained only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which the information was collected or as required by Law.

If you choose to give Ultra personal information via the Internet, whether voluntarily or at our request, it is Ultra's intent to let you know how it will use such information.

Ultra will use your personal information to provide services you request. Ultra may also use the information you supply to:

•make the Ultra Site easier for you to use by not having to enter information more than once;

•help Ultra customise content most relevant to you;

•notify you about important news concerning Ultra and/or its subsidiaries.

In the process of administering the Ultra Site, we maintain and track usage through Web server logs. Web server logs provide such information as what types of browsers are accessing our site, what pages receive high traffic and the times of day our servers experience significant load. Ultra use this information to improve the content and navigation features of the Ultra Site. It is not used to personally identify you.

Correcting/updating personal information
If a visitor's personal Information changes, Ultra provide a way to correct, update or remove any personal information that it holds on that visitor on its active databases. Ultra may, however, need to retain archive copies of that personal information for legal or audit purposes.

How Ultra share it
Ultra will not sell, rent or lease to others your personally identifiable information. Ultra may share the personal data you provide with its professional advisors, its sales force, tied intermediaries and its Ultra Site developers who are acting on its behalf for the uses described above, except as provided below (see Consent).

Cookies
We collect standard information about visits to our website through the collection of log files and Google Analytics. These log files track user preferences and visited pages. They also provide us with information regarding the type of browser you are using and what operating system your computer or mobile device is running.
